Get to Know Tashah Claymore
How It All Began
For as long as I can remember I've always loved drawing and creating art, but I never really got serious about my creativity until I was twelve. At that age I got my first book idea after being inspired by Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien and several other books. This is also when I made the decision to take my art more seriously. I didn't trust anyone else to capture my imagination since no one can look into my mind and see what I'm picturing.

I struggled for a while with both writing and art, not having the discipline or enough knowledge to continue them as much as I wanted to. Getting better at writing was a matter of practice and waiting until I was more mature, but my Mum came to my rescue with art. She signed me up for art classes when I was in 7th grade, and I loved it so much I kept going until I had graduated high school.

After high school there was a bit of a hiccup when I decided to go to the same college as my older brother, but that turned out to be a mistake. Even though my brother thrived there it wasn't the right place for me. I then made the much better decision to enter art school, and I now have an Associate's Degree in Visual Development. I knew I was pretty good at art after six years of my high school level art classes, but I was absolutely blown away by my vast improvement after just one semester at my art university, not to mention the improvement after two whole years there.

While art has become a main focus for me, it hasn't stopped me from continuing my writing. I have consistently been improving my writing craft, although it has taken more time to hone those skills compared to my art skills. I'm not a published author yet, but I will be soon! All good things take time.
